The World Bank warned that global temperatures could rise by four degrees this century without immediate action, with potentially devastating consequences for coastal cities and the poor.
Issuing a call for action, the World Bank tied the future wealth of the planet — and especially developing regions — to immediate efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions from sources such as energy production.
“The time is very, very short. The world has to tackle the problem of climate change more aggressively,” World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said on a conference call as he launched a report conducted for the global lender.
“We will never end poverty if we don’t tackle climate change. It is one of the single biggest challenges to social justice today.”

If you think the world bank, and the other head of the hydra – the IMF, give a damn about poverty I have a bridge to sell you. The World Bank and the IMF work at, basically, enslaving nations into debt which they can never really emerge from, which then opens them and their natural resources to exploitation. Seriously, this part I find amusing; “We will never end poverty if we don’t tackle climate change.” Yes, that’s right folks, if it gets any warmer we will no longer be able to help the poor. By the way, we are doing such a good job of it aren’t we… I think we can attribute the erosion of the middle class everywhere with the narrowing of the gap between rich and poor. If you don’t realize sarcasm when you read it I have a bridge you can jump off of.
Of course we should seek to make industry cleaner, but we shouldn’t do it to create a new industry to make a handful of individuals wealthy. When food sitting on store shelves and the water that comes out of your faucet can be considered toxic I would say there exists here an issue of priorities.
Those that know me personally know that for one, I am, I guess, what you would call a real environmentalist… and through my eyes the whole global warming cult blows their cred with their clinging to demonizing CO2 (really, out of everything we put into the environment this???). And again, we are still told that CO2 is “bad”. Sure, CO2 (carbon dioxide in case you’ve been under a rock) is bad if you are inside a little lunar lander that has increasing levels of CO2, but here on planet Earth, the rock you and I live on, we have things called plants and trees – all of which love and need CO2 every bit as much as you love and need oxygen.
